CLARION CONNECTIVITY REALLY DELIVERS BY INTRODUCING USB WINDOWS MEDIA DRM SOLUTION DIRECTLY ON SOURCE UNITS

New Mobile Entertainment Products offer increased flexibility in music playback formats.

Cypress, Calif., (January 7, 2008) – Clarion Corporation of America, a leading manufacturer of mobile electronics, introduces new CD and multimedia source units that incorporate support for Microsoft Windows Media Digital Rights Management (WM DRM) and pure digital audio streaming playback feature via USB connection.

Customers can now choose from six very distinct mobile CD source units (DUZ385SAT, DXZ785USB, DXZ585USB and DXZ385USB) and multimedia systems (MAX685BT and the VRX785BT) that offer both Windows Media Audio and Video playback capabilities along with support for playback of WM DRM protected content. Each offers increased flexibility with support for several types of music playback formats, making it the ultimate device for taking your own music collection on the road.

The Windows Media platform is used in the majority of online sites that use DRM (Digital Rights Management) coding to protect the usage of rented or purchased files.

“This development gives an entirely new group of portable music consumers a convenient in-vehicle solution directly on capable Clarion source units” states Adam Thomas, Clarion’s Vice President of Marketing. “Clarion’s exciting new WM DRM feature, combined with USB iPod® Direct, and Mass Storage Class device connection, will give millions more portable music users one convenient USB connection to connect their portable music collection”
