Cypress, California, (January 7, 2014) – Clarion Corporation of America, a long-standing market leader in marine audio electronics, today announced introduction of three all-new high-performance marine entertainment source units, a new wired remote control, and a new coaxial speaker system.
For 2014, Clarion’s extended selection of marine source units and accessories offer the most up-to-date combination of sought after features in order to keep users not just entertained but also connected while on the water. Some of those features include built-in Bluetooth, Apple and Android smartphone compatibility, Pandora® internet radio control via iPod or iPhone USB connection, access to satellite radio, and built-in global AM/FM/Weather band tuner.
“Clarion is a proven leader in the marine industry with many innovative technologies and products specifically researched and designed for marine applications,” stated Allen H. Gharapetian, Vice President of Marketing & Product Planning for Clarion Corporation of America. “Our commitment for designing and engineering the world’s most reliable and high-quality marine products is evident in many of our products already but, for 2014, we are were excited about the addition of these all new multimedia models to our line-up which we believe will establish new industry benchmarks and win Clarion support from both our OEM partners as well as end-use consumers.”
The all-new single DIN M704 has a watertight faceplate with a 3.5 inch optically bonded color LCD display and a stainless steel chassis. This exceptional marine grade digital media source unit offers USB, MP3/WMA playback, and also features a J1939 interface to allow for the system to be controlled via the boat’s multifunctional display. The M704 is designed with convenience and ergonomics in mind, featuring a stylish oversized control panel with rubberized waterproof buttons.
Winner of a 2014 CES Innovations award, the new CMS5 has a 4.3 inch optically bonded color LCD waterproof controller and offers flexible mounting options thanks to its hide-away black box receiver. The controller and black box are protected against dust and water spray. Like the M704, the CMS5 benefits from a robust Linux operating system and an ARM9 CPU. It also supports the J1939 Bus so it can be controlled by the boat’s multi-functional display.
The IPX6 rated CMS2 is also a two piece system with a display commander and a hide-away black box receiver. It is designed to be easily mounted in a number of ways as it too is able to sustain moisture and water spray from multiple directions. CMS2 has a 3-line full DOT matrix backlit LCD display providing easy to read information, a built-in Bluetooth receiver for stereo audio streaming along with comparable digital media playback compatibility just like the CMS5.
The new MW4 is a wired marine remote control featuring a 2.8-inch color optically bonded LCD display. It is tested to 500 hours of ASTM B117 standard for salt and fog exposure as well as ASTM D4329 for UV exposure and features a built-in IR repeater for wireless remote controls, white LED button Illumination, and ability to connect to up to 75-feet of extension cables. MW4 is compatible with the new M704 and CMS5 models upon launch with compatibility for older Clarion systems becoming available later in the year.
For 2014, Clarion adds an eye catching and performance oriented all new marine speaker system. The CMQ1322R is a 5-1/4 inch 2-way marine speaker that is tested to 500 hours of operation to meet ASTM B117 (Salt/Fog Exposure) and ASTM B4329 (UV Exposure) standards, offing 100 watts of maximum power handling, die cast aluminum basket, high impact ASA plastic grille, liquid drainage system, rubber mounting gaskets and gold plated terminals to ensure durability in the harsh marine environment. The speaker delivers accurate, smooth sound with high efficiency, featuring ferric oxide magnets, mica-injection polypropylene woofer cone and magnetic shielding integrated in the baskets.
Availability of these new models is expected to be Q2 of 2014 just in time for the 2014 summer boating season.
