We at Clarion have adapted quickly to change, seizing the ever-changing nature of the environment to identify opportunities and successfully transform ourselves from a manufacturer of in-vehicle devices to a provider of in-vehicle information solutions. With information increasingly becoming indispensable in people's daily lives, Clarion relentlessly pursues opportunities in the information field to enrich the lives of its customers by offering safe and secure in-vehicle access to information and entertainment. We plan to continue to grow in key areas that are even more deeply intertwined with the essential aspects of in-vehicle connectivity.

To achieve this, we intend to carry out structural reforms aimed at simultaneously strengthening our business base while laying the foundation for growth. And, we will forge ahead with initiatives to cultivate new product domains and become a truly global company with our eyes set on upcoming growth markets.

From In-Vehicle Device Manufacturer to In-Vehicle Information Solution Provider

Clarion finds itself in a market environment undergoing drastic change. We will tackle the challenges presented by these rapidly changing market conditions while quickly adapting and evolving our business model. Clarion is evolving from an in-vehicle device manufacturer, to a company dedicated to connected in-vehicle navigation and multimedia systems with a growing focus on "Cloud-Based Information Network Services for Vehicles" (software and services), and Intelligent Safety systems with an increased awareness of security, safety and comfort.

Delivering value-added products and services that truly “connect” and enable our customers to access the various kinds of information and services they need in their daily lives, at anytime and in an optimized easy-to-use format provides solutions to enrich their lives safely and reliably.

Managing the information required by vehicles, people, and the environment in a cohesive manner, providing each of our customers with maximum value through safety and comfort. These are the things that Clarion will provide by simultaneously developing a comprehensive information management solution and optimized user interface, and linking the two together to provide uniquely appealing customer value. Furthermore, Clarion will continue to pursue the limitless potential of future innovation, including contributing to social infrastructure through energy management aiming to lessen the burden on the environment.

Activities of a Truly Global Corporation

Clarion divides its global operations into five regions, namely Japan, the Americas (North/Central/South America), Europe, China, and Asia/Oceania. Each region has its own overall administrative function, under which are the functions of marketing, development, production, and sales. We will continue to provide each and every region with the optimum products and services, by organically combining the respective geographical, customer and product functions.

Contributing to the Creation of a Sustainable Society

Global warming is one of the most critical environmental issues facing our planet, and its effects appear in ways that cross national boundaries, at an increasingly alarming pace. As the earth experiences abrupt environmental changes, and as we attempt to realize a sustainable, recycling-based society, the importance of environmental measures as a matter of corporate responsibility also grows.

At Clarion, these environmental issues are a key issue for management, and we are implementing the Clarion Environmental Management Plan on a global scale, while also promoting environmental management activities overseas. In keeping with our aspirations to be a “company that is truly liked and valued by society”, global environmental considerations and activities such as these will be mission-critical to our enterprise.

Generating Synergies by Harnessing the Comprehensive Strengths of the Hitachi Group

As a member of the Hitachi group, Clarion generates synergies in a variety of situations.

We cooperate closely with Hitachi’s Information & Telecommunication Systems Company, drawing on their abundant experience and technological know-how in IT platforms to provide the cloud-based vehicle information network service “Smart Access”.

We are also working closely with Hitachi Automotive Systems, Ltd., which boasts a large market share in drive control systems, as we seek to create new value by combining vehicle information and Clarion’s in-vehicle devices to provide our customers with an even safer and more secure driving experience.

Hitachi, Ltd. has highly advanced R&D facilities. By incorporating the results of Hitachi’s advanced research into Clarion’s products, including the image-recognition technology used in Intelligent Safety (camera compatible) products, we at Clarion have a clear advantage in terms of introducing world-class products in the fiercely competitive marketplace.
