Safety in the Working Environment

Clarion has established a committee called the Health and Safety Committee, which is working to develop healthy and safe workplace environments and to understand and comply with laws, regulations and ordinances related to health and safety in workplaces.

Health and Safety Committee

Clarion holds a meeting of the Health and Safety Committee once a month to discuss topics relevant to health and safety. The Clarion Group Health and Safety Council, comprised of affiliated companies in Japan, also meets every month to share the headquarters’ basic health and safety policies across the group and promote related activities.

Prevention of Industrial Accidents

Clarion promotes safety measures with the goal of zero major industrial accidents. This comes from Clarion’s highest priority to secure safe working environments for its employees as well as to fulfill its corporate social responsibilities. In fiscal 2006, however, there were two accidents leading to suspension of operations (for four days on one occasion and two days on the other), one accident that did not lead to lost work time, and one accident involving an employee on the way to work. We will make further efforts to develop safety measures in order to achieve our goal of zero industrial accidents.

Mental and Physical Health

As the lifestyles of the employees change, the risks of lifest y le related diseases are rising. One of Clarion's primary goals is to make all the employees go through regular health checkups for the early discover y of diseases. In fiscal 2006, 100% of employees, other than those under long-term absence or maternity leave, went through the checkups. Furthermore, Clarion believes that the vigor of the company is enhanced when employees are healthy in mind and body. Based on this belief, we have established a health counseling office for mental health issues staffed with outside counselors, and provide mental health lectures by expert lecturers. In fiscal 2006, approximately 120 people, mainly managers, participated in the lectures and learned the importance of communication and early noticing of possible problems in the workplace.
