Clarion has extended its compliance program to eight domestic and 20 overseas subsidiaries and affiliates. All have formulated their own codes of conduct based on the Headquarters’ Guiding Principles of Conducts and Behaviors.
The codes appear in eight languages, including English, Chinese, and Malay. Following procedures in a similar manner as the Headquarters, the subsidiaries and af filiates are executing programs to identif y and address risks, which is the core of the Compliance Program.

Clarion holds regular liaison meetings with domestic affiliates to verify activities plans and their state of implementation and share information on various issues. We additionally try to improve the level of activities through departmental interviews and compliance audits. We are vitalizing compliance promotion activities by interviewing senior management staff of overseas affiliates every year, receiving regular reports from them, and following up on the reports. In 2005, we made overseas circuit visits to North America, Asia, and Europe. Our personal meetings with local staff helped to put a human face on activities. |

In order to support and vitalize the compliance promotion activities of our overseas affiliates, Clarion held an event where each of the Group companies presented their activities and voted for the “best practice” award in fiscal 2006. We carried out this selection by publishing the presentation materials from 12 overseas affiliates on the company Intranet. As a result, CMCP (manufacturing company in the Philippines) was chosen as the company with the best practice and the award was presented to it by the President. Going forward, we intend to hold CSR World Conferences, where all the domestic and overseas affiliates assemble and report on the status of their compliance activities. |
