Chemical Substance Management Activities

Clarion strives to reduce the output of chemical substances from its production to the greatest extent possible. Currently we are primarily working to reduce the output of solder, waste oil, and isopropyl alcohol (IPA), Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC), all of which have high usage and waste output.

Reducing the Output of Chemical Substances

In fiscal 2006, the amount of solder used and its waste output rose due to larger production volumes of car navigation equipment and other products. However, we have been recycling solder, waste oil, and IPA.

Complying with the Pollutant Release and Transfer Registers Law (PRTR)

Clarion runs a system that tracks the amounts of chemical substances used and their waste output, even if they are used only in small amounts. Furthermore, we conduct thorough chemical substance management through education and training activities. In fiscal 2006, we did not use or output any chemical substances that needed to be reported under the PRTR Law (the Law concerning Reporting, etc. of the Release to the Environment of Specific Chemical Substances and Promoting Improvement in their Management). We are also striving to reduce the amount of usage and waste output of VOCs although VOCs are not subject to the PRTR Law.
