These transducers were designed using the latest in computer-based magnetic field modeling and high-technology cone materials. Signature Series products were developed to reveal the incredible clarity and detail capable from our head units, amplifiers and signal processors and serve as the final link in the chain to achieving sonic purity and accuracy in a mobile environment.
The Signature Series Composite Cone is the secret to the performance of these speakers. Proper cone design requires three primary criteria be assessed before the final product is complete; Mass, Strength and Damping. The Mass of the cone needs to be controlled to allow it to respond quickly and accurately to the most minute signal. Cone Strength prevents the cone from distorting as it accelerates back and forth. Finally, proper damping reduces cone resonance that could, if left unchecked, blur the detail and accuracy of the speaker. All Signature Series woofers and midrange devices use a cone that is made of two layers. The top layer is tightly woven glass fiber that is bonded to a PMI (Polymethacrylimide) expanded foam structural core. PMI offers the best balance of mass to strength available for the most accurate music reproduction.
